Report: Browns, Colts, Falcons, Jets, Pats & Ravens Have Shown The Most Interest In DE Michael Sam

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, citing a league source, reports that “several teams” have maintained contact with Missouri DE Michael Sam throughout the draft process.

According to Wilson, the Browns, Colts, Falcons, Jets, Patriots and Ravens have shown the most interest in Sam.

What’s interesting about these teams is that there are some 3-4 teams in the group, which means they may see him as an outside linebacker. Many have said that Sam’s best position is likely to be at 4-3 defensive end, but apparently that’s not the consensus.

Sam posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.91 and totaled just 17 reps at this years NFL Combine. The performance was disappointing overall and caused some to suggest that Sam could ultimately go undrafted.

However, he was able to improve upon those numbers of his Pro Day last month. Sam clocked a 4.72 forty time and put up 19 reps during his second workout.

There’s still a wide range of opinions regarding where Sam could come off the board. At this point, it appears as though Sam is a day-three talent.
