Report: Browns Expected To Fire HC Pat Shurmer & GM Tom Heckert On Monday

Mark Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that league sources have informed her that the Browns are expected to part ways with head coach Pat Shurmer and GM Tom Heckert on Monday.

Cabot adds that “it was almost a foregone conclusion” that both of them would be replaced when new owner Jimmy Haslam purchased the team back in October.

Cabot goes through a long list of potential candidates for both the head coach and GM positions, so you can check that if you’re interested in seeing some options.

This news is hardly surprising given that there’s a new team owner taking over a franchise that has really struggled for a good while now. Mike Holmgren being forced out was more than enough to suggest that Shurmer and Heckert’s days were numbered. It will be interesting to see what happens with Brandon Weeden now that there’s going to be a new regime in place. Hopefully for Browns fans, they bring in someone that’s capable of turning this team into a consistent winner.

    • Not a word from a credible source to this point regarding Schottenheimer even being an option. It’s at least an interesting idea.
