Report: Browns Hiring John DeFilippo As Offensive Coordinator

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports is reporting that the Cleveland Browns are hiring John DeFilippo as their new offensive coordinator.

DeFilippo was the Raiders QBs coach last season and did a pretty decent job working with rookie Derek Carr.

The Browns have been linked to several coordinator candidates in recent weeks, so it was hard to gauge who could be the favorite for the job with so many coaches being mentioned.

There was a pretty good indication that a hire was likely to be made at some point Wednesday as Mary Kay Cabot reported that the Browns have canceled their interview with Raiders offensive assistant Al Saunders that was scheduled for Wednesday.

Cabot added that the meeting has not been rescheduled and no reason was given.

DeFilippo, 36, has worked as a quarterbacks coach since 2007. He now gets the task of helping the Browns develop Johnny Manziel into a productive NFL quarterback.
