There have been numerous updates regarding Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel throughout the day with most of them centering around the Browns and Rams.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Browns’ owner Jimmy Haslem “loves” Manziel.
“Browns owner Jimmy Haslam has a love affair with Manziel,” Rapoport said on “NFL Total Access” Monday, via NFL.com. “(Haslam) has made no secret of this, in several conversations, according to people I’ve spoken with over the last year or so. This is something that Haslam has made very clear to people he speaks with. He’s an SEC guy … He’s seen Manziel a ton, he loves the way he plays. Plus, there is the thing that he would fill up the seats.”
Rapoport does wonder whether or not the team’s scouting department shares Haslam’s reported affection for Manziel.
Meanwhile, Ryan Van Bibber of SB Nation, citing a “reliable source,” reports that the Rams’ interest in Manziel is “genuine,” and being driven by HC Jeff Fisher.
Van Bibber does add that this doesn’t mean the Rams will come away from the draft with Manziel, but it’s certainly interesting to hear where the support is coming from.
We have the the Browns taking Johnny Manziel in the first round of our recently updated 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
