Report: Browns Sign WR Anthony Armstrong

Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Browns have signed WR Anthony Armstrong to a contract on Monday.

This marks the third receiver that the Browns have added in the past week as they also signed veterans Miles Austin and Earl Bennett.

Cleveland didn’t draft a single receiver even after the news that Josh Gordon could be suspended for the entire season broke, so it makes plenty of sense for them to increase the level of competition ahead of OTAs and training camp.

Armstrong, 31, participated in Redskins voluntary workouts on a tryout basis a few weeks ago, but left without a contract.

He last appeared in a game during the 2012 season when he was with the Cowboys and Dolphins for six games.
