Report: Browns “Unlikely” To Trade For Kirk Cousins

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that a source has informed her that the Browns trading for Redskins backup QB Kirk Cousins is “unlikely,” even with the addition of Kyle Shanahan as their new offensive coordinator.

  • Cabot adds that Shanahan “really likes” Cousins and the feeling is apparently “mutual.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first mentioned the idea over the weekend when he reported that Cousins is open to the idea of being traded this offseason.

Since then reports have downplayed the possibility of the Browns acquiring Cousins via trade, as well as his desire to Washington, but there is always a chance things can change as the offseason gets underway.

Cleveland is widely expected to draft a quarterback and and pair him with Brian Hoyer, who actually played pretty well for the Browns during a short stretch last season before his injury. If that’s the case, it really doesn’t make sense to part with more assets to get Cousins.

I’m sure we’ll continue to hear more regarding Cousins and possible trades in the coming weeks.
