Browns WR Josh Gordon Arrested For DWI

Matt Anderson of WKYC in Cleveland is reporting that Browns WR Josh Gordon has been arrested for DWI in Raleigh, N.C.

According to Police captain Tommy Klein, Gordon was “appreciably impaired” at the time of his arrest.

Statement from Browns GM Ray Farmer: “We are aware of the matter and are disappointed to learn of this situation. We will comment further at the appropriate time.”

Gordon is already facing a potential indefinite suspension for being Stage 3 violator of the league’s substance abuse policy with his appeal hearing is set for late July.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer recently reported that sources close to Gordon are concerned that he could have a “tough time making it back into the NFL” if he is forced to stay away from his support system.

Apparently, they were spot on as Gordon appears to be incapable of preventing off-the-field issues.

Gordon, 23, is coming off of a breakout season and is clearly the Browns best offensive weapon. Last year, Gordon caught 87 receptions for 1,646 yards receiving and scored nine touchdowns for Cleveland.

Former Browns CEO Joe Banner confirmed that they turned down an offer that included a second-round pick and players. Given all that has transpired since then, there is no way any NFL team would be willing to trade for the Pro Bowl receiver. In fact, there is at least a chance that his NFL career is over.

We’ll have more regarding Gordon as the news is available.
