Report: Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy Has A Broken Hand

Pro Football Talk reports that Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy sustained a broken hand in Sunday’s game against the Rams.

McCoy was forced from the game mid-way through the first-half and reports indicated that his return was questionable.

McCoy is such a valuable component of the Buccaneers’ defense that it seems almost impossible that they would be able to replace his production if he’s forced to miss an extended period of time.

McCoy, 25, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is scheduled to make $12.7 million for the 2014 season and count $15.6 million against the team’s salary cap. The two sides have reportedly been involved in extension talks.

Last year, Pro Football Focus rated McCoy as the No.1 defensive tackle in the league by a wide margin.

We’ll have more updates regarding McCoy as the news is available.
