Report: Cardinals Among Teams Interested In Packers OLB Mike Neal

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Arizona Cardinals are among a few NFL teams with interest in Packers impending free agent OLB Mike Neal.

Neal’s agent, Roosevelt Barnes, mentioned that Neal could be a fit for the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks back. However, Neal responded to our post with; “lol don’t believe the hype!

The Cardinals shopped around for value last year, reportedly offering players contracts that would be pulled after leaving town, so they could take a similar approach this offseason and look to get some guys locked up quickly.

Neal, 26, will be an unrestricted free agent this March and should have a decent enough market that he could secure a mid-level contract. The Packers have said their top priority is to retain their free agents, so it seems likely that will extend him an offer at some point.

It’s worth noting that Pro Football Focus rated Neal as the third worst 3-4 outside linebacker in the league last season. Even so, Neal still produced 5 sacks, 49 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble for Green Bay.

We have him listed as the No. 84 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
