Report: Cardinals Trade FB Anthony Sherman To The Chiefs For CB Javier Arenas

Update:

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals will in fact receive CB Javier Arenas from the Chiefs in return for FB Anthony ShermanBoth players will still need to pass a physical before the deal can be finalized.

Adam Caplan reports that an NFL source has informed him that the Cardinals are expected to trade FB Anthony Sherman to the Chiefs.

  • Caplan mentions that the Cardinals could be targeting a cornerback such as Javier Arenas in return for Sherman.
  • Caplan adds that this remains an unconfirmed rumor” at this point in time.

Cardinals new head coach Bruce Arians previous mentioned that he’s “not a fullback guy,” so it’s not all that surprising to see Arizona try acquire something in return for Sherman.

Sherman, 24, was a fifth-round pick back in 2011 and has been the Cardinals lead blocker for the past two seasons. Andy Reid is known for employing a fullback in his west coast offense, so we’ll have to see if they’re able to reach an agreement at some point in the near future.
