Cardinals Officially Place DL Darnell Dockett On Season-Ending IR

The Arizona Cardinals officially announced that they have placed DL Darnell Dockett on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a torn ACL earlier this week.

We wish him a speedy recovery.

Cardinals VP of media relations Mark Dalton announced that an MRI did in fact reveal that DL Darnell Dockett has a torn ACL and will cost him the 2014 season.

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reports that the Cardinals believe DL Darnell Dockett suffered a torn ACL during Monday’s practice.

Dockett was set to undergo an MRI on his knee after he had to be carted off the field.

The Cardinals have Frostee Rucker listed as Dockett’s backup on their depth chart, but there is no question that this would be a big loss for Arizona.

Dockett, 33, is entering the fifth year of his six-year, $56 million contract that included $30 million guaranteed. He will make a base salary of $5.5 million this year.

Last season, Dockett appeared in 16 games and recorded 46 tackles to go along with 4.5 sacks.

We’ll have more regarding Dockett as the news is available.
