Cardinals View Re-Signing ILB Karlos Dansby As A “Major Priority”

Update:

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians told Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Friday that re-signing free agent ILB Karlos Dansby is a “major priority” for them this offseason.

“Oh there’s no doubt,” Arians said. “We offered Karlos a contract the day after the season.

“We’re still in the negotiation process. But yeah, he’s a major priority because of what he brought to the table for us as a leader. We definitely would love to have him back.”

Last offseason, after being cut by the Miami Dolphins, Dansby found few suitors, and eventually signed a one-year deal worth $2.25 million with Arizona.

Dansby had a very productive season under Todd Bowles totaling 135 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, and four interceptions from his inside linebacker position.

NFL teams have been hesitant to give out big money to aging players like Dansby who is currently 32 years old, but he has certainly earned a pay raise.

We have Dansby listed as the No. 37 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 Phoenix reports the Arizona Cardinals have impending free agent ILB Karlos Dansby a multi-year offer.

Cardinals GM Steve Keim told reporters on Thursday that although they would like to re-sign Dansby to a contract extension, but added that they “always have to be prepared to move on,” per Darren Urban.

Dansby has said that he would like to return to Arizona next season, but this could very well be his last opportunity to secure a multi-year contract.
