Report: Cardinals Release LB Stewart Bradley & CB William Gay

Adiki Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network reports that the Arizona Cardinals have parted ways with LB Stewart Bradley.

Bradley, 29, landed in Arizona back in 2011 when he agreed to a five-year deal worth $25 million. He had a base salary of $5 million coming his way this season. Releasing him will free up $3.5 million for the Cardinals to use this offseason.

Bradley dealt with concussion problems after joining the Cardinals and wound up playing only 40 snaps for them in 2012. He’s still young enough to get another shot, but he figures to command a very minimal salary on the open market.

The Cardinals also announced that they’ve released CB William Gay on Friday.

Gay, 28, signed a two-year deal worth $3.2 million contract with the Cardinals last year. He triggered an escalator that raised his base salary to a $1.75 million for 2013 season.

Gay was rated as one of the one of the worst cornerbacks in the league by Pro Football Focus, so it will be interesting to see what kind of interest there is in him on the open market.
