Report: Jared Veldheer Expected To Sign With The Cardinals

Update:

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Raiders’ free agent OT Jared Veldheer is “expected” to sign with the Cardinals in the coming days.

  • Wilson mentions that Veldheer is likely receive $7 million and $7.5 million annually in his next contract.

Kent Somers reports that the Cardinals are “very interested” in Raiders’ LT Jared Veldheer.

  • Somers mentions that Veldheer is three years younger than Branden Albert, who is believed to be on the Cardinals’ radar, and likely to come at a lower price tag.
  • According to Somers’ sources, Veldheer is a “more viable target” than Rams OL Rodger Saffold.

The Miami Dolphins are reported to have interest in Veldheer as well, but it appears as though they are focused on signing Albert.

The Raiders are reportedly interested in keeping Veldheer, however, they elected to not use their franchise tag on him last week. Somers mentions that the Raiders do have an offer out Veldheer, but he is expected to considering other options for the time being.

Veldheer, 26, suffered a partially torn triceps back in August, and although there was talk that he could be placed on season-ending injured reserve, he managed to return in Week 13.

In 2012, Pro Football Focus rated Veldheer as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the league.

We have Veldheer listed as the No. 7 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
