Report: Chargers WR Eddie Royal Restructures His Contract

Michael Gehlken reports that Chargers WR Eddie Royal has restructured his contract.

According to Gehlken, Royal was set to make $4.5 million base salary next season and carried a $6 million cap figure as well. Gehlken adds that these figures have been reduced, but details of the restructure aren’t available at this time.

Royal, 27, signed a three-year worth $13.5 million that included $6 million guaranteed with the Chargers back in 2012.

He’s coming off of a reasonably productive season in which he totaled 47 receptions for 631 yards receiving and a career high eight touchdowns.

San Diego has some question marks at the receiver position as Malcom Floyd is coming off of serious neck injury and free agent Danario Alexander continues to deal with knee issues. It seems likely that they could look for a reasonably priced receiver at some point during the offseason.
