Report: Chiefs Looking To Trade Out Of No. 1 Overall

Adam Caplan reports that “multiple execs” have informed him that the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to trade out of the No. 1 overall pick.

Caplan adds that the acquiring either Alex Smith or Nick Foles wouldn’t have any impact on their decision to move back.

The real question is whether or not there’s a team willing to move to the top spot in the draft. There doesn’t appear to be a can’t-miss player in this year’s draft class, so even if the Chiefs do find interest, it’s highly unlikely that they would be able command as much as St Louis was able to get for the No. 2 pick in 2012.

The Chiefs are believed to have interest in Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel, but they could always elect to re-sign Brandon Albert and target a different position in the first-round.

    • Sorry for mistake. You’re obvious correct that is was St Louis who traded out of the No. 2 spot last year. Thanks for pointing that out.
