Report: Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe Suspended One Game

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports is “hearing” that Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe will be suspended one game for his marijuana possession arrest last year.

  • Getlin adds that Bowe’s initial chargers for speeding and marijuana possession have been amended to  “defective equipment and littering.”
  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter has confirmed that Bowe will be suspended for the team’s opening game against the Titans.
  • According to Brian McIntyre, Bowe will lose a game check of $514,706 if they based the suspension on his 2014 salary or $44,118 from his 2013 salary.

Bowe is clearly atop the team’s depth chart, but he has had an up and down training camp thus far. HC Andy Reid recently mentioned that Bowe’s struggles are due to his finger being “shot.”

“It’s been thrown out of place about 15 times, and he’s not catching the ball,” Reid said, via Adam Teicher of ESPN. “But he’s getting his work done.”

As of now, Donnie Avery and A.J. Jenkins could end up being the team’s top-two receivers to open the regular season.

Bowe, 29, is entering the second year of his five-year, $56 million contract that includes $26 million guaranteed. He’ll make $8.75 million for the 2014 season.

Last year, Bowe appeared in 15 games and caught 57 passes for 673 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
