Chris Johnson Has Visits Scheduled With Other Teams

Update:

Free agent RB Chris Johnson made an appearance at Tuesday night’s New York Knicks game following his meeting with the Jets.

Johnson mentioned that he has other visits lined up with prospective teams and there isn’t a timeframe for a decision at this point, per Manish Mehta.

“I’m just taking it one day at a time, taking my time and whatever decision I make it’ll be the best decision,” Johnson said, per Mehta.

It will be interesting to see who he meets with next. The Falcons, Dolphins, Bills and Cowboys have all come up as speculative options for Johnson in the past few weeks.

We have him listed as the No. 1 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

Brian Costello reports that Chris Johnson‘s meeting with the Jets has concluded.

  • Costello’s source mentioned that the meet “went well,” but they’ll have to wait and see from here.
  • According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Johnsons meeting with the Jets Tuesday was “productive” and there were “good vibes all around.”
  • Mehta adds that the Jets will not overpay for Johnson and believes the best he could get right now is $3 – $4 million per year at most in his next contract.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that other NFL teams are “still circling” around Johnson at this point in time.

Johnson opted to play through a meniscus tear he suffered back in Week 3, which most likely contributed to his career-worst 3.9 yards-per-carry average last season. He managed to go over the 1,000-yard-mark for the sixth consecutive season and contributed 10 total touchdowns in 2013.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent RB Chris Johnson is visiting with the Jets on Tuesday.

  • Manish Mehta would be “very surprised” if the Jets don’t sign Johnson.

This is Johnson’s first reported visit since he was released a few weeks ago. The Jets are believed to be the team with the most interest in Johnson, but that could change now that he is meeting with prospective teams.

The Dolphins, Falcons and Bills have also come up as speculative landing spots for Johnson.
