Report: Colt McCoy Expecting A Trade Or To Be Released

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer cites a league source who has informed her that Browns QB Colt McCoy is expecting to either be traded or released soon.

  • Albert Breer adds that the Browns have no plans to release McCoy as of now, but his source did not rule out a potential trade.

The Browns signed QB Jason Campbell to a two-year contract last night, which is a clear indication that McCoy is no longer part of their plans. Much has already been made about McCoy’s lack of arm strength and how he’s not a good fit in Norv Turner’s offensive scheme.

Cabot adds that Campbell is expected to compete with Brandon Weeden for the Browns starting quarterback job during training camp.

Dating back to last season, the Packers were rumored to be a potential landing spot for McCoy if they were to trade him. There’s a chance Green Bay may still have interest given that Graham Harrell remains their backup quarterback.
