Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Colts are trying to lure veteran QB Jason Campbell out of retirement following the injury to Andrew Luck.

The Colts announced Tuesday that Luck was expected to miss 2-6 weeks with a kidney laceration and an abdominal injury. However, reports from today have said that Luck is likely to miss at least a month and could be the full six weeks.

PFT points out that Campbell played for Colts OC Rob Chudzinski when they were with the Browns a few years back, so there’s clearly some familiarity between the two.

The Colts have said they plan to move forward with Matt Hasselbeck as their starter, but it couldn’t hurt for them to bring in some more help at the position in case Hasselbeck struggles.

Campbell, 33, has found interest from a number of teams in need of a quarterback including the Cowboys a while back, but he’s elected to remain retired.

Campbell last appeared in a game during the 2014 season while playing for the Bengals. That year, he threw for 74 yards while completing 57.9 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and no interceptions over the course of four games.

We’ll have more regarding the Colts and Campbell as the news is available.
