Talks Between 49ers & Anquan Boldin Moving In A “Very Positive” Direction

Update:

49ers HC Jim Harbaugh told reporters that contract talks with WR Anquan Boldin are moving in a “very positive” direction.

“There’s angst, and there’s work to be done,” Harbaugh said, via the Sacramento Bee. “… The direction it’s going is very positive because we’re unanimous. It’s not just me who wants Anquan Boldin back. We feel there’s a process. It could be days, weeks, but there’s a process, and it’s going in a positive direction from the standpoint of the San Francisco 49ers. … We’re all in lockstep with how we feel about him.

Last we heard regarding a possible contract extension between the 49ers and WR Anquan Boldin, the two sides were reportedly in the process of discussing an agreement, according to CSN Bay Area.

However, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the 49ers have yet to officially engage in contract talks with Boldin.

  • Florio adds that talks are expected to begin at next week’s Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

San Francisco has said that they view Boldin as one of their offseason priorities, so there is chance that a deal could come together in next few weeks.

Boldin, 33, is coming off of another productive season in which he totaled 85 receptions for 1,179 yards receiving and seven touchdowns. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 8 receiver in the league, so he should be one of the few veteran players to do well in free agency, assuming that he even makes it that far.

We have Boldin listed as the No. 50 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
