Report: Cowboys Have No Plans To Draft Johnny Manziel

Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys have no plans to draft Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel with the first-round pick.

However, Rapoport adds that the Cowboys are hoping he’s still on the board by the time they are on the clock as it could allow them to field offers for him at No. 16 overall.

“(The Cowboys) would love to be on the clock with Johnny Manziel sitting there, but not to take him. Not to take him,” Rapoport said on “Total Access” Sunday. “Just so they would have some ammunition for a potential trade for some team wanting to come up and grab Johnny Manziel.”

There was some speculation that the Cowboys could be an option for Manziel, but since then multiple reports have refuted that the idea.

The Buccaneers and Vikings could be two teams to watch early on, but if he gets past Minnesota at No. 10, I’m sure there will be plenty of trade talks going around involving teams looking to move up for him.

We have the Browns taking Manziel at No. 4 overall in our recently updated 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
