Report: Cowboys Have Internally Discussed Trading For QB Mike Glennon

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys have discussed internally the idea of possibly pursing a trade for Buccaneers backup QB Mike Glennon.

It’s worth mentioning that a source tells Jason Cole this afternoon that the Buccaneers are not shopping Glennon, nor have they received any calls about him.

Earlier in the day, the Cowboys confirmed that they are considering all options at quarterback right now to replace Kellen Moore. This includes signing a free agent, as well as potential trade options like Glennon and Browns QB Josh McCown.

Dallas lost out on signing veteran Nick Foles, as he agreed to a contract with the Chiefs Wednesday night. However, one free agent tossed for the Cowboys has been Jimmy Clausen if they want to sign someone instead of parting with some sort of compensation for a backup quarterback.

Glennon has been a popular name in trade rumors for some time now, but there really hasn’t been any serious indication of the Buccaneers moving him.

Glennon, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.104 million rookie contract and stands to make a reasonable base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2014, Glennon appeared in six games for the Buccaneers and threw for 1,417 yards while completing 57.6 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding the Cowboys and their options at backup quarterback as the news is available.
