Report: Cowboy’s Josh Brent Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter Of His Own Team-mate

Reports are coming in from numerous sources (Mike Chappell) that Cowboys DL Josh Brent has been arrested and is in jail for drunk driving. Brent was involved in an accident in which the car he was driving flipped and resulted in the death of his teammate LB Jerry Brown.

Initial reports suggest that Brent has been in jail since 4:14 AM local time. Brent was returning from partying at a local club in Dallas and was driving at a high rate of speed before losing control of his car and flipping it on the freeway, which subsequently resulted in the death of his passenger and teammate. First responders confirmed that at upon arrival Brent was responsive while Brown was not. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wrote in a statement, via NFL.com. “At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry’s family and all of those who knew him and loved him.”

This is not the first time Brent has driven while under the influence as he was arrested with a DUI while back in college. We’ll be providing more updates on this situation, as they become available.
