NFL Announces The Opponents For The 3 London Games Next Year

Update:

The NFL has confirmed the opponents for the three games held at London’s Wembley stadium in 2014.

The three games will be:

  • Dallas Cowboys vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Detroit Lions vs. Atlanta Falcons
  • Miami Dolphins vs. Oakland Raiders

Our fans in the UK continue to demonstrate their passion for more football,” Goodell said.  “Next year for the first time we will play three regular-season games in London.  We have scheduled three attractive games with four teams playing in their first International Series game.  The growing enthusiasm for the NFL internationally is exciting and we look forward to continuing to respond to this interest in our game.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Dallas Cowboys are the leading contender to pay the Jacksonville Jaguars next year in London.

  • Schefter adds that an official announcement could come as soon as Thursday.

Jaguars announced a year ago that they agreed to play one home game in London for four consecutive seasons, the of which will be played this weekend against the 49ers.

A few weeks ago, the NFL announced that they will play two additional games in 2014 season at London’s Wembley stadium. The Falcons are Raiders will be the home teams in the two additional games.

There has been a lot of speculation that the NFL could eventually place an expansion team in London, but the logistics involved in such a deal make seem as though we’re at least years away from this being a plausible option. After all, the NFL somehow hasn’t figured out how to get a team in Los Angeles, which just happens to be the second largest market in the states.
