Report: Cowboys Need To Make The Playoffs For Jason Garrett To Return

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that a source has informed him that the overall expectation is that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will fire HC Jason Garrett and the rest of the coaching staff if Dallas doesn’t make the playoffs this year.

To do so, the Cowboys would need to win their two remaining games against Washington and Philadelphia.

Garrett’s seat as been hot for a few years now and bringing him back after another disappointing season is going to do very little to convince the fan base that the team is moving in the right direction. Of course, Jones maintaining control of personnel decisions and GM duties doesn’t either.

Should the Cowboys job become available, it will be interesting to see the list of names with interest in the job.

Garrett’s record as head coach is 28-26 for a winning percentage of 51.9 and zero postseason appearances.
