Report: Cowboys Negotiating Extension With Anthony Spencer

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the Cowboys are in the process of “negotiating a multi-year deal” with DE/OLB Anthony Spencer.

Dallas placed their franchise tag on Spencer for the second consecutive season, which leaves him with a $10.627 million guaranteed base salary for the 2013 season.

The Cowboys have just over $100,000 in cap space to work with and will reportedly be meeting with safeties Michael Huff and Will Allen, as well as LB Justin Durant at some point today.

Locking up Spencer long-term would free up enough cap space to sign at least one of these players and their 2013 rookie class.

Dallas is also trying to re-sign Tony Romo as well, but it’s hard to say where things stand regarding this situation at his point in time.
