Report: Cowboys QB Tony Romo Avoids Serious Rib Injury

Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan reports that Cowboys QB Tony Romo underwent X-rays Monday morning to determine if he has any damage to his ribs. According to Fisher, the X-rays came back negative.

Vice President Stephen Jones isn’t concerned about Romo’s status moving forward.

We feel optimistic with the tests coming back negative,’’ said Jones. “He’ll be sore but something he’ll be able to play with, as it looks right now.’’

Romo was injured late in the second quarter of Sunday’s win over the Giants after DE Mathias Kiwanuka and Justin Trattou sandwiched him. Romo was able to finish out the game, but was whincing for much of the second-half.

The Cowboys will be up against the Chiefs in Week 2 who are coming off of a good showing against the Jaguars.
