Cowboys Sign DE Greg Hardy To A One-Year, $11.3M Deal

Update:

Pro Football Talk reports that the Cowboys have agreed to terms with former Panthers DE Greg Hardy.

  • According to Pro Football Talk, Hardy receives a one-year contract that can be worth up to $13.1 million.
  • Hardy’s contract breaks down to a $750,000 salary, a workout bonus of $1.3116 million, and $9.25 million in per-game roster bonuses, according to Pro Football Talk.
  • The agreement includes $1.8044 million in incentives based on sack totals.
  • Dallas will not be able to use either of their franchise or transition tags on Hardy next year, which means he’ll be a unrestricted free agent again in 2016.

Dianna Marie Russini reports that the Cowboys signing former Panthers DE Greg Hardy is a “done deal.”

However, Ian Rapoport mentions that negotiations between the Cowboys and Hardy are “very serious,” but nothing is done as of now.

Adam Schefter confirms that there is no deal in place as of now, but adds that “it’s hard to see how it doesn’t get done.

  • Pro Football Talk recently reported that the Buccaneers have “lost interest” in signing Hardy.
  • PFT adds that unless someone else get involved in the mix for Hardy, he’s likely to end up playing for the Cowboys in 2015.
  • Jason La Canfora reports that Hardy is seeking over $6 million salary for the 2015 season.
  • However, La Canfora adds that Hardy’s contract is likely to be heavy in incentives.

Hardy, 26, wound up appearing in just one game and recorded four tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble before he was placed on the commissioners expect list.

Last year, the Panthers used their franchise tag on the defensive end, which paid him a salary of $13.116 million for the 2014 season. However, all indications are that Carolina has moved on and he won’t be back with the team.

We have Hardy listed as the No. 5 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
