Report: Cowboys Taking A Look At OLB Larry English

Rainer Saban of the DallasCowboys.com reports that the Cowboys are “taking a look” at former Chargers first-round pick OLB Larry English.

  • However, Raider adds that the Cowboys have yet to make a decision about signing English to a contract.

San Diego cut English loose on Tuesday, but this is the first reported interest we’ve come across.

English, 28, has been a major disappointment since San Diego used the No. 16 overall pick on him back in 2009. He was entering the final year of his rookie contract and was set to make $1.54 million for the 2014 season.

Last year, English appeared in nine game and recorded 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pass defensed. Pro Football Focus has English rated as the No. 27 qualifying outside linebacker in 3-4 system out of 42 players.

The Cowboys’ defense could obviously use some extra depth as they head into training camp, so we’ll have to see if anything comes of their interest.
