Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports that a source has informed him that the Cowboys “intend” to use one of their open roster spots to sign veteran OT Demetress Bell.

  • Archer mentions that Bell would have to pass a physical for a deal to be finalized.
  • Archer adds that the Cowboys are also expected to sign QB Alex Tanney and WR Lavasier Tuinei.

Bell, 29, signed a five-year contract worth $35 million with the Eagles last year, but the contract was structured so that the team could get out of the deal after just one season. Dallas was reportedly in contact with Bell and his representatives months ago.

He figures to be a backup option to LT Tyron Smith and whoever wins the RT job between Doug Free and Jermey Parnell.

Archer notes that the Cowboys could look to trade either Free or Parnell depending on what happens during training camp.
