Report: Cowboys Work Out Veteran LB Jason Phillips

Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports that the Cowboys brought in veteran LB Jason Phillips for a workout on Thursday.

This news comes just a few hours after HC Jason Garrett told reporters that doctors have advised 2013 sixth-round pick LB DeVonte Holloman to retire from the NFL because of a neck injury.

Phillips, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens back in 2009. He later signed a two-year contract with the Eagles as an unrestricted free agent in March of last year, but was released just a few days ago.

Last year, Phillips tore his right ACL during a training camp practice in late July and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Phillips last appeared in an NFL during the 2012 season while playing for the Carolina Panthers.
