Update:

The Jets officially announced the signing CB Darrelle Revis Wednesday night.

The agents for CB Darrelle Revis announced Tuesday night that he’s returning to New York and signing with the Jets.

  • Manish Mehta reports that Revis receives a five-year deal worth $70 million, which includes $39 million fully guaranteed.
  • Revis will make $48 million over the first three years of the agreement.
  • According to Mehta, Revis will make: $16 million in 2015 (fully guaranteed), $17 million in 2016 (fully guaranteed), $15 million in 2017 ($6 million fully guaranteed), $11 million in 2018, and $11 million in 2019.

The Patriots ultimately declined to pick up Revis’ $20 million option, making him an unrestricted free agent.

However, there was still some optimism that he could return to the Patriots in the coming days. The problem, of course, was the fact that the Jets were committed to paying Revis a massive contract to bring him back to New York.

Revis, 29, recorded 47 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery and 14 pass defenses over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has Revis rated as the No. 4 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

We had Revis listed as the No. 2 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
