Report: Darren McFadden’s Ankle Injury “Worse Than Expected”

Steve Corkran of the Steve Corkran reports that Raiders RB Darren McFadden‘s ankle injury is “worse than expected.”

  • According to Corkran, McFadden is now “out” for Week 14’s game against the Jets.

Rashad Jennings has outplayed McFadden for much of the season, but is coming off of a recent concussion. He was, however, able to put in a limited practice on Wednesday.

McFadden, 26, has had a very poor 2013 season to say the least. He’s averaging just 3.5 yards per carry and has a total 365 yards rushing to go along with four touchdowns and a fumble. To make matters worse, he is in the final year of his contract, so this is hardly the type of production that will help him secure a long-term deal on the open market.

Earlier today, Corkran mentioned during a chat session that he doesn’t see Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie “even making McFadden an offer” following the season.

It’s hard to argue with that. We initially had McFadden in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list, but had to remove him weeks ago due to poor performance. It will be fascinating to see what kind of market develops for him come March.
