Report: Dolphins Also Open To Trading WR Mike Wallace & Cameron Wake

Update:

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that a Dolphins source has refuted a report from CBS Sports earlier in the day that the Dolphins were gauging trade interest in DE Dion Jordan, WR Mike Wallace and DE Cameron Wake

  • Salguero’s source mentioned that the entire report is false.
  • Salguero added that he trusts his source on this one over the CBS Sports report.

We’ll have more as the news is available.

Jason La Canfora previously reported that the Miami Dolphins have been “gauging” the trade value of former first-round pick DE Dion Jordan.

La Canfora is now reporting that “numerous league sources” have informed him that Miami is also “open to dealing” veterans like WR Mike Wallace and DE Cameron Wake

  • La Canfora adds that this perception has only grown around the league as the Dolphins new fron office is reportedly looking to “retool” their roster.
  • According to La Canfora, sources close to Wallace, Jordan and Wake all believe a trade would not be a shock this offseason.

Miami is reportedly trying to revamp their offensive line and possibly draft up in this years draft for an offensive tackle, according to La Canfora.

Trading either player could be very difficult based on their respective contracts, but there is at least a remote chance that someone could have interest in Wallace or Wake.

  • Jason Fitzgerald mentions that trading Wallace would create $8.45 million in cap space.

Wallace, 27, is entering just the second season of his five-year, $60 million contract that included $30 million guaranteed. He has a staggering 2014 base salary of $15 million and will count $17.25 million against the team’s salary cap.

Wake, 32, will be entering the third season of his five-year, $34.53 million contract that $17 million guaranteed. He has a base salary of $5.82 million coming his way next season and will count $7.285 million against the team’s salary cap.

  1. Keep Jordan. Trade Wake. i didn’t see a lot out of him towards the end of the season. He is still a great player but will probably decline soon. You can a lot more for Wake and train Jordan to replace him. I would keep Wallace. He really opened the field up for Tannehill and the rest of the offense..
