Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that the Dolphins intend fire GM Dennis Hickey on Monday.

A separate source cautioned that no decision has been finalized at this point in time, and eh team will hold discussions over the next few days regarding Hickey’s future.

There has been talk that Hickey could be on the outs in Miami for several months now, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Especially when you consider that Miami brought in Mike Tannebaum to run their football operations, and he inherited Hickey.

One name to watch as a potential replacement to Hickey, according to Florio, is Dolphins director of college scouting Chris Grier.

Florio adds that Tannenbaum has no plans to name himself general manager, so that can be ruled out.

On Friday, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross sent a letter to season-ticket holders that didn’t mention Hickey in connection with their upcoming coaching search.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald writes that Hickey’s fate with the Dolphins hasn’t been determined as of today. However, Ross and Tannenbaum are currently in the process of weighing his future.

Salguero seems to think it’s still more likely that they’ll move on from Hickey than keep him for another year, even though he’s considered a “solid personnel man.”

We’ll have more regarding changes to the Dolphins as the news is available.

  1. Hickey isnt the problem.. he did decent job. unfortunatley his head will roll because Tannenbaum wants to do everything “his way.” which im not exaclty sure what made “his way” the golden standard.
