Report: Dolphins Are Not Using Franchise Tag On NT Paul Soliai

The agent for Dolphins NT Paul Soliai tells Armando Salguero that the team has informed him that he will not be franchised before today’s deadline.

This really isn’t all that surprising given that reports have indicated that the Dolphins were unlikely  to tag any of their impending free agents.

Salguero previously reported that as many as five NFL teams have already expressed interest in Soliai. Salguero added that two of these teams are “are quite serious” about signing him to a long-term contract.

Soliai, 30, signed a two-year extension with the Dolphins worth $12 million and included $6 million guaranteed back in 2012. He is in great position to cash in the next few weeks as he is arguably the best nose tackles on the open market.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 overall defensive tackle last season. We have Soliai listed as the No. 25 player in our Top 50 Free Agent list.
