Former Dolphins third-round pick TE Michael Egnew passed through waivers unclaimed on Saturday, according to the NFL transaction release.
Egnew, 24, is now a free agent able to sign on with a team of his choosing. We’ll have to see if anyone shows interest in giving him another opportunity.
Last year, Egnew appeared in 15 games for Miami and caught seven passes for 69 yards and no touchdowns.
The team has waived tight end Michael Egnew, defensive tackle Micajah Reynolds and waived/injured defensive back Jalil Brown.

There is no question that Egnew has been a major disappointment in his first years in the NFL, and with a new GM in place for the Dolphins, it seemed likely that Miami would be parting ways with him at some point in the coming weeks.
Egnew, 24, was entering the third year of his four-year, $2,776,456 contract and was set to earn a base salary of $585,000 for the 2014 season.
