Report: Eagles & Browns Have Discussed Trade Involving Sam Bradford

Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report confirms a report that the Browns and Eagles have discussed a trade involving QB Sam Bradford.

According to Cole, this is basically a resuscitation of the trade talks involving the Browns and Rams regarding Bradford.

A rumor surfaced Tuesday that Philadelphia and Cleveland have discussed trading QB Johnny Manziel and a package of draft picks for Bradford. However, a Browns’ source tells Cole that while there has been some talk about trading Manziel, the Eagles aren’t looking to take on the 2014 first-round pick.

Instead, Cole mentions that if the Eagles were to trade Bradford to the Browns for draft picks, the goal is to acquire the necessary picks to eventually move up for Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.

There has been a great deal of speculation in recent months that the Eagles will ultimately try to move up for Mariota, so this news really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Following the trade that sent Bradford to the Eagles in return for Nick Foles and a package of draft picks, Josina Anderson of ESPN spoke to coaches at West Virginia’s Pro Day who said that they aren’t convinced that Bradford will end up being the team’s starting quarterback.

Instead, the coaches told Anderson that they could see Bradford being trade bait for the Eagles to trade up to No. 2 overall.

The Titans are in an interesting position at No. 2 overall, given that they could auction off their first-round pick for the right to take Mariota, assuming the Buccaneers draft Jameis Winston No. 1 overall.

In recent weeks, the Chargers and Bears have come up as other teams that could consider the idea of moving up for Mariota.

During his three years at Oregon, Mariota threw for 10,796 yards while completing 66.8 percent of his passes to go along with 105 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions.
