Report: Eagles & Jeremy Maclin Aren’t Close To An Agreement

Mike Garafolo expected the Eagles to re-sign free agent WR Jeremy Maclin by now or at least be close to an agreement on a long-term contract.

However, Garafolo reports that this isn’t the case and there is still work to be done between the two parties.

Philadelphia passed on using their franchise tag on Maclin earlier in the week, which leaves him in position to be one of the most sought after receivers in free agency.

Maclin and Randall Cobb are both set to cash in big time given that cap-rich teams like the Raiders, Browns, and Colts could use help at receiver and ultimately make things difficult for the Packers and Eagles once they’re able to discuss contracts with him this weekend.

Maclin mentioned on Saturday that he wants to be back in Philadelphia next year.

Maclin, 26, missed the entire 2013 season after he suffered a torn ACL. The Eagles later signed him to a one-year contract worth $5.5 million, even though they were reportedly interested in giving him a multi-year agreement.

In 2014, he caught 85 passes for 1,318 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

We have Maclin currently listed as the No. 7 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
