Report: Eagles Prepared To Release CB Nnamdi Asomugha Unless He Takes A Pay Cut

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Philadelphia Eagles will meet with CB Nnamdi Asomugha regarding a pay cut.

Schefter adds that Asomugha will be released if he’s unwilling to renegotiate his current contract.

Asomugha, 31, has been a huge disappointment since arriving in Philadelphia. He has an absurd base salary of $15 million for the 2013 season, so it makes that the Eagles brass would ask him to lower that figure. $4 million of that figure is guaranteed, so it will be interesting to see how much the Eagles are willing to pay him.

The two sides will meet today at the Scouting Combine to discuss his future, so we should have a better idea of where things stand either later today or possibly over the weekend.
