Eagles Officially Sign CB Byron Maxwell

The Eagles have announced their agreement with CB Byron Maxwell.

Aaron Wilson reports that Byron Maxwell‘s deal with the Eagles is a six-year contract worth $63 million and includes $25 million guaranteed.

According to Wilson, Maxwell will make:

  • $13.5 million in year one
  • $22 million in year two
  • $32 million in year three
  • $42M million in year four
  • $52M in year five
  • $11 million in year six

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Adam Caplan, the Seahawks are making a late push to re-sign free agent B Byron Maxwell.

  • However, the Eagles are still considered the favorites to sign Maxwell.

Jimmy Kempski has confirmed the report that the Eagles have an agreement in place with CB Byron Maxwell.

Jayson Braddock reports that an agreement between the Eagles and CB Byron Maxwell is “done” and will be officially on Tuesday.

  • Maxwell will reportedly receive a five-year deal worth around $53 to 54 million from the Eagles that includes $25 million guaranteed, per Braddock
  • According to Braddock, the contract came in higher than expected after the two sides continued to talk. Braddock mentions that they were initially discussing a six-year, $63 million contract.
  • Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reported earlier in the day that the Eagles were willing to pay Maxwell over $10 million per year to sign with them.

Maxwell recently confirmed that he would be interested in playing for the Eagles next year.

Definitely,” he said, via PhillyMag.com. “They run the schemes that I’m talking about – Cover 3 and man press. And they’re committed to winning. Definitely, Philadelphia, if they were to come at me, I would have to consider them.”

Maxwell, 26, has played out his four-year, $2,153,452 rookie contract and will now be an unrestricted free agent next week.

In 2014, Maxwell recorded 39 tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and 12 pass defenses over the course of 13 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 45 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.
