Report: Eagles Will Not Release QB Michael Vick This Week

Tim McManus of PhillyMag.com reports the Eagles will not release QB Michael Vick before February 6 deadline that will guarantee $3 million of his 2013 contract.

There’s been a lot of speculation that a decision would be coming before Wednesday’s deadline, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Since then, reports have indicated that the $3 million would only be guaranteed if Philadelphia releases him and no other team signs him.

McManus adds that new Eagles’ head coach Chip Kelly is still evaluating the team’s roster, so they’re clearly not rushing anything at this point in time.

Michael Vick reportedly “came away very high” on Kelly after the two of them met on separate occasions. At this point, it seems as though there’s actually a chance that he could be back with the Eagles, but it may require him to rework his contract, which is something that he’s reportedly unwilling to do.
