Report: Eagles Willing To Trade CB Brandon Boykin, Dolphins An Option?

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald spoke to an Eagles’ source who said that the Eagles are “willing to trade just about anybody for the right compensation” and specifically mentioned that CB Brandon Boykin isĀ available.

  • Salguero adds that he hasn’t been able to confirm that Boykin is in fact on the trading block, but mentions that previous reports have said as much.
  • Omar Kelly of South Florida Sun-SentinelĀ reported last weekĀ that the Dolphins have interest in trading for an Eagles’ defensive back, but he isn’t sure who they’re specifically targeting.
  • Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.comĀ followed this up by mentioningĀ that Boykin, S Earl Wolff, and S Jerome Couplin could be potential options for the Dolphins, assuming the report is accurate.

Salguero points out that Eagles HC Chip Kelly inherited Boykin, so it’s certainly within the realm of possibilities that they could consider moving on without him in the event a trade partner surfaces.

In the event that the Dolphins are interested in trading for Boykin,Ā Salguero rules out the idea of including DE Dion Jordan due to the cap ramifications that would come from trading him.

SalgueroĀ writes that there’s a chance the Eagles could be looking to move up to No. 14 overall and suggests a trade that includes the Dolphins sending their No. 14 pick to the Eagles for No. 20 and Boykin.

Boykin, 24, was taken in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has one year remaining on hisĀ four-year, $2.505 million rookie contract that includes a base salary of $1.542 million.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading would free up $1,542,000 in available cap space while creating in $101,367 dead money.

In 2014, Boykin appeared in all 16 games and recorded 41 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and nine pass defenses for the Eagles.Ā Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.
