Report: Falcons Open To Trading Up In The Draft

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing league sources, reports that the Atlanta Falcons are open to trading up in this year’s NFL Draft.

  • Schefter adds that the Falcons are the first known team to be willing to move up in the draft.

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff previously said that they will consider the idea of moving up for the right player, and given that Dimitroff has made a move up in the past for talented player, it seems like this isn’t all that far fetched of an idea.

The Rams and Raiders are both reportedly interested in trading out of their current draft slots, so they could be two teams to watch.

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney would make a lot of sense for the Falcons given that they are in need of a defensive end, and he could end up being the best prospect to come out in years.

However, it would require the Texans to pass on him at No. 1 overall and then they would probably have to work out a trade with the Rams to get him. It’s unlikely that Clowney would fall past the Jaguars at No. 3 overall.

Atlanta currently has the No. 6 overall pick, so this will be something to watch in the coming weeks.
