Report: Falcons Signing CB Javier Arenas

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Falcons have agreed to terms with free agent CB/KR Javier Arenas

  • Ledbetter mentions that Arenas will receive a one-year contract from Atlanta.

Arenas, 26, was drafted by the Chiefs in the second-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent his first three years in the league with the Chiefs before signing a one-year contract with Arizona last year.

He appeared in all 16 games and totaled 12 tackles and a sack while contributing 493 kick return yards.

The Falcons met with KR Devin Hester on Tuesday, so it’s interesting to see them add a player who has been used as a kick returner on the same day. Hester’s asking price is believed to be pretty high, so that could be an issue for Atlanta.
