Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe is reporting that former Browns GM Michael Lombardi joining the Patriots is “basically a done deal.

Young adds that Bill Belichick values Lombardi’s opinion and his evaluations have actually played a role in some of the Patriots recent drafts.

Multiple reports have indicated that former Browns GM Michael Lombardi is close to joining the Patriots front office as a personnel executive.

However, Ian Rapoport reports that Lombardi and the Patriots are still just discussing  a possible position at this point in time.

Rapoport adds that Lombardi’s deal isn’t likely to any extra money as he’s still being paid by the Browns.

Lombardi lasted less than a year as the Browns GM after team owner Jimmy Haslam elected to make big changes to his front office and hire Ray Farmer to take over.

Lombardi worked with Patriots coach Bill Belichick during his first stint with the Browns years ago, so it wouldn’t be that surprise to see this deal get done in the near future.
