Update: Panthers Have “No Immediate Plans” To Sign WR Stephen Hill To A Contract

Update:

Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports that the Panthers have “no immediate plans” to sign either of the two receivers — Stephen Hill or Kadron Boone –– who worked out for them on Monday to contracts.

  • Reed adds that they will remain on the team’s “ready list.”

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that former Jets second-round pick WR Stephen Hill is working out for the Panthers on Monday.

Hill, 23, was waived as the Jets made their final roster cuts to get down to 53 players this past weekend. Hill wound up passing through waivers unclaimed.

He’s still practice squad eligible, so we’ll have to see if he ends up getting an offer from the Panthers or another receiver-needy team like the Browns.

Last year, Hill appeared in 12 games and caught 24 passes for 342 yards receiving and a touchdown.
