According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions are expected to sign free agent FB Jed Collins, barring any complications regarding his visit with the team.

  • Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reported Tuesday that Collins was visiting with the Lions this week.
  • Tripplett mentioned that Detroit could be a great landing spot for him given that former Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi is now running the Lions offense.

Tripplett, 28, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State back in 2008, but later joined the Saints and spent the past three years in New Orleans.

In 2013, he totaled 99 combined yards and a touchdown while being rated as the No. 17 fullback in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.
