Field Yates of ESPN reports that free agent OLB Matt Shaughnessy is visiting with the Patriots on Wednesday.
Recent reports indicated that the Cardinals had engaged in contract talks with Shaughnessy before free agency started on Tuesday, but there hasn’t been a lot of buzz surrounding a return to Arizona in recent days.
Shaughnessy, 27, appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals last year and totaled 36 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and three recoveries. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 34 outside linebacker in a 3-4 system last year.
